Title |
Clarick Theatre Fire, 11-12-1937. |
Description |
Clarick Theatre fire 11-12-1937. Photos in newspaper. Clarick Theatre was a movie house, but originally it was built in 1900 for live entertainment and named Baker City Opera. It was built in 1900 after Rust's Opera House two blocks north on Main Street burned down in 1898. It cost $35,000 and seated over 1200 people. After the fire, it was replaced on that corner by Safeway grocery store. The name Clarick is a combination of Clara and Fredericka, relatives of the owners. |
